How to use ToyLoop

ToyLoop is built for one fast weekly decision: which toys should stay visible right now, and which ones should rest in reserve so the room feels calmer and the toys feel fresh again.

1. Set the week target

Choose a shelf label, age band, active shelf slot count, footprint cap, and target mood. A calmer week leans toward quieter, smaller-footprint play. A lively week leaves more room for movement and higher-energy toys.

2. Add real toys, not ideal toys

Start with the built-in presets, then edit the list to match your actual home. If a toy is noisy, messy, or slow to set up, mark it honestly. The output gets better when the metadata matches real life.

3. Review the active shelf

ToyLoop selects an active shelf based on novelty, play-mode variety, setup effort, noise, and shelf footprint. The reserve shelf stays visible so the next swap is intentional rather than random.

4. Use the weekly plan

Copy the summary into Notes or a family chat. The swap cue gives a simple next action such as rotating the noisiest toy midweek or replacing the biggest footprint item after a few days.

Good use cases

  • Small living rooms where toys spill into shared adult space
  • Montessori-style shelves that work best with fewer visible choices
  • Families trying to reduce overstimulation during busy weeks
  • Co-parents or grandparents who want one shared shelf plan
